The Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for the University's new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christian Agyare, urging him to provide bold, visionary and inclusive leadership that will further strengthen KNUST's position as a leading institution of higher learning.

The assurance was given during a courtesy call by Professor Agyare and members of the University Management at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The delegation visited the Chancellor to express the University's appreciation for his presence at the Vice-Chancellor's investiture ceremony and for his continued commitment to the growth, governance and advancement of KNUST.

Congratulating Professor Agyare on his appointment, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II noted that his selection by the University Council was based on merit, competence and distinguished service to the University. He expressed confidence in the Vice-Chancellor's ability to provide effective leadership over the next four years and encouraged him to discharge his responsibilities with courage, integrity and fairness. The Chancellor further urged Professor Agyare to build on the University's achievements and leave KNUST stronger than he found it, while remaining focused on advancing excellence in teaching, research, innovation and community service.

Otumfuo also cautioned the Vice-Chancellor to exercise prudence in dealing with individuals who may seek to invoke the Chancellor's name to obtain undue favours or influence University decisions. He assured Professor Agyare that should the need arise for his intervention on any matter, he would communicate with him directly through the appropriate channels.

Expressing his appreciation for the Chancellor's counsel and continued support, Professor Agyare reaffirmed his commitment to providing consultative, transparent and transformational leadership. He pledged to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to realise his vision of moving KNUST "from Excellence to Eminence" while strengthening the University's standing as one of Africa's premier institutions of higher learning.

The Vice-Chancellor further assured the Chancellor that he would continue to seek his wise counsel and guidance in discharging his responsibilities, acknowledging Otumfuo's enduring role in the growth and success of the University.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Registrar, Mr Benjamin Owusu; the Finance Officer, Dr. Charles Nsiah; the University Relations Officer, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe; and Assistant Registrars Mr. Oppong Gibridu; and Rev. Elvis Twum-Barimah.
